I already know this. But I’m not doing NaNoWriMo to win. I’m doing it for the fun, the community, and the writing practice itself.
Also, I’m working on a brand new story.
Well, not brand new, in that I started it a few years ago and never finished it. As a matter fact, I worked on it during an April Camp NaNo and totally failed. Gave up a week in, then blocked it from my mind. Blocked it so thoroughly that when I logged into my NaNoWriMo account last year, I was like “What the heck is this?” ‘cause I had no recollection of doing it. So I’m picking it up again now.

I spent “Preptober” revisiting the plot, just enough to get excited about the story again and give me some momentum to start writing. I also stocked up on NaNo snacks. An excuse to raid the Target snacks aisle? Yes, please!
It’s November 1st, and so far I’ve gotten in 955 words. I’m off to a rip-roaring start.
Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year?
